Latest Updates
As you know Webslug lists all the fastest browsers, the quickest web sites and even the best operating systems for the web.
You also may know that IE 8 is out now and despite Microsoft claims IE8 is the fastest web browser in the world we put it to the test using Webslug and were very impressed. It's fast but still far from the fastest.
Well apart from that we're still growing slowly but surely with the 20,000th website about to be added to the index any day now. Google has also started giving us some inbound referral love but still largely sees the site as spammy due to it mainly containing numbers and charts.
To celebrate the 20th site to be tested for high performance I'll do a big write up over at Greener Desktop with a big roundup of the all the fastest, the slowest, the most tested of all sites, browsers, operating systems and any other juicy stats I can find.
Oh and the piece of news we really wanted to add is that we've splashed a few more ads around the place to try and pay for some of the hosting costs of the site. I hope you don't mind.

Site rankings added
Hey there,
A quick update. Webslug now has performance rankings. The approx 13 thousand sites have now been ranked in terms of their performance (and consistency) so you can keep your own site(s) bookmarked and come back and see how they rank regularly.
For example:
google.com is ranked #2 on webslug. Unsurprisingly, as there's very little on the home page.
It's probably not the greatest feature anyone's ever seen but it means that we'll be able to do things like badges and release more juicy stats.
Stay tuned

Webslug now has direct test URLs
Now you can link to webslug directly to test your website performance. If you'd like your users to test and promote your website's download speed then create a link in the following format.
http://www.webslug.info/index/single?url=http://www.website.com
They will be automatically prompted to test your page.

Webslug blog has a new home
The Webslug blog has been moved from my personal blog to a new Blogger hosted page. I wanted to keep my blog about me and more generalised.
So from now on everything webslug and website performance specific will be posted here. Everything else (including my behind the scenes efforts for Webslug) will be hosted on Greener Desktop.
Stay tuned for more updates to Webslug. Soon.
